This new facility provided the Town with 29,000 square feet of space to house centralized police, fire and civil defense functions. The fire department occupies 13,600 s.f. with a 5 bay, dual access apparatus room, dormitory, offices and kitchen. The police department has 8,000 s.f. for offices, conference rooms, indoor firing range, booking, photo lab, 7 holding cells, evidence storage, exercise rooms, sally ports and shower/locker facilities. The civil defense unit occupies a 1,200 s.f. emergency operations center. The entire center is supplied with its own emergency power source. Traditional colonial design maintains the street-view residential character while taking advantage of a steeply sloping site to conceal multi-story requirements.
