Accommodating housing for elderly citizens on an environmentally-sensitive
site was the goal of this community. The new facility contains fort-five
assisted-living units in addition to offices, multi-use space, central
dining and full commercial kitchen, arts and crafts room, library
and nurse's station. Site master planning addressed future use of
out-parcels of land, as well as the access requirements through
river crossings and flood plain protection. Taking advantage of
natural site features, second level access is accomplished utilizing
a bridge from an existing rock outcropping. Several outdoor seating
areas permit close resident contact with the rustic surroundings.
The entire facility addresses the needs of the physically-challenged
in a pleasant and secure residential setting.
